I have been teaching Special Education for 3 years, and have worked in the field for more than 10. My experience includes treatment settings teaching dual diagnosis students in treatment settings, and most recently I have started up a brand new Community Class teaching students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 3 with Autism.
My teaching style has to reflect the types of students I am teaching. Due to different personalities, ages and cognitive levels of my students, I am constantly adapting my teaching style to complement their needs.
My greatest honour comes from the successes and accomplishments within my classroom. Even the smallest of successes can makea very tough day worth it!
I attended McMaster University for English Literature, and the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland for my teaching degree in Primary Education. I have my specialist in Special Education.
Check out my Twitter page @AutismTeach for more ideas on how I implement my resources into my daily teaching and advocate for my students.
