TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Being a military wife, I've taught at 8 different schools in the past 11 years in 4 different states! But, moving around this much has exposed me to so many valuable teaching experiences that I wouldn't change it for anything. I have taught all grades from 5 - 12, and just about every conceivable subject matter. Mostly, I've focused on teaching students with learning disabilities, which is one of the motivating factors behind my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Since I've taught so many subjects at so many places with such disparate cultures, I can only describe my teaching style as adaptable! I'm certified to teach art, so I enjoy incorporating art (even if it just means coloring!) into math when I can. I believe technology holds a key in opening our students' minds, so I use technology (videos, smartboard, widgets, gadgets, cell phones, response devices, etc.) on a daily basis.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Teacher of the year for the districts I worked at in 2006 and 2011; I've written and received lots of fun grant money over the past 11 years too!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, M. Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology

I'm very happily married to a wonderful man and we have a beautiful daughter and 2 lazy but loyal dogs! I love teaching and plan to work in education to some extent for the rest of my career. Life is wonderful!
