During 24 years of being a classroom teacher, I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. My career began at College Park (MSD of Pike Township) in the Indianapolis area where I taught for two years. In 1992, I continued my career in the Vigo County School Corporation (VCSC) in west-central Indiana where I have taught at Davis Park, Adelaide DeVaney, and Hoosier Prairie. In the fall of 2015, I became a Writing Coach for the VCSC where I co-teach in 2nd- and 5th-grade classrooms at Hoosier Prairie, West Vigo, and Dixie Bee.
Challenging and encouraging my students to be independent. open-minded, creative learners is my style. I believe students: should be given ample opportunity to explore their interests, should feel "safe" to try new "things" and to share their thoughts, should be respected as individuals, should be able to learn in their preferred "learning styles", should use technology, and should explore the "arts".

I graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 and with a Master of Education degree in 1998. Learning about new trends in education is important to me.
I live in west-central Indiana with my wife and two children. Mrs. Bailey teaches first grade. Both of our children are college students. Rico (our energetic miniature pinscher) and Diego (our spunky chihuahua) keep us entertained. In my spare time, I enjoy trail running and obstacle course racing (OCR)….the more mud, the better!
