This is a game that I adapted from the traditional 2 truths and a lie game for the classroom. It’s a great icebreaker for the first days of school, including introducing yourself as a new teacher in a new school, letting students introduce

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for 10 years. Three years were spent overseas teaching in South Korea. Roughly half of my teaching experience is in middle school, while the other half has been spent in high school. I've also taught writing workshops to adults. Currently, (2018-19) I teach English Language Arts, AP English (LANG), Honors English 11/12, English 11/12 and AVID. Other classes I've taught over the years include: ELA (middle and high school 7-12) AP Language (high school 11/12) Honors English (high school 11/12) Spanish 1 and 2 (high school) ESOL (K-12) EFL (middle school) Yearbook (high school elective) Debate (middle school elective) Creative Writing (middle school) Music Appreciation (high school elective) Summer Camp (elementary level) AVID

MY TEACHING STYLE

Creativity and relevancy are the two most important tenets of my lesson planning. Even though it takes a lot of work and extra time, I've always tailored my own lessons by hand. I sometimes buy lessons off of Teachers Pay Teachers and tailor them to my own group. I want to sell things that other teachers can use in their classrooms and tailor to their particular group. Differentiation is a key part of my classroom and I believe there are many ways for students to show their mastery. I personally believe that teaching is an extremely challenging career and work/life balance is important. I am a freelance writer in my off time and it dove-tails nicely with teaching. I believe that a remarkable teacher--in any subject--is a lifelong learner and a lifelong reader.
