11 years teaching basically anything related to history or social studies; I won't list all the classes here. Love what I do!
Teacher-directed, strong emphasis on student participation, especially in lecture/discussion. Fast-paced, fun, and fresh material awaits students every day they enter into the classroom. My philosophy is that the student should always expect to be respected, appreciated, and valued- but at the same time, they should always expect the unexpected in my class: whether that is a new game, activity, or anything that piques student interest.
Astoria HS Teacher of the Year, 2007-08 Teaching American History Travel Grant, 2009 David H. Pasquini Award scholarship recipient (Western Illinois University), 2013 STAR in the Classroom Award, 2014 Fulbright TGC Program, 2016-17
Bachelor's Degree (History Education), Illinois State University, 2007 Master's Degree (Educational Administration), Grand Canyon University, 2011 Master's Degree (History), Western Illinois University, Spring 2014
I am a teacher who expects a lot of out my students, and I push them to do their very best. I believe that if the bar is set high, students will work to achieve the goals I have set for them. I will stop at nothing to ensure that new, exciting, fun, and relevant teaching strategies are always at the forefront of my class so that each student will learn and achieve.
