Barraug Books was founded by two veteran high school English teachers in 2004. It started as a small project where we’d visit garage sales on Saturday mornings to find books that we knew teens liked to read and teachers wanted to teach. We'd stock our classroom libraries and sell the books on the internet. In 2012, we opened Barraug Books and Curriculum on TPT to share expertise, relevant resources, and freebies that engage students and aid new and experienced teachers.
We have been teaching for 30 years. We met at a Title 1 school in Miami and later moved across the country to teach in Seattle suburb schools. We also taught ESOL in Korea and at an international school in Colombia before returning to Miami to teach at two technical-arts high schools. Today, we are based in the suburbs of Atlanta.
Currently, I teach AP English Language and Composition partnered with AP US History for American Studies and American Literature. I also teach English Composition 1101 and 1102 at a local university. My husband teaches AP English Literature and Composition, AP English Language and Composition, and World Literature. He is a table leader for AP English Language and is a College Board consultant.
