I'm a Board Certified Educational Therapist. Since 2010, I've run a thriving private practice in San Mateo, California. I work one-on-one with children with language-based learning disabilities like dyslexia. I also run a website (www.BayTreeBlog.com) for other teachers where I write about best teaching practices and distribute educational curriculum and lots of other fun teaching freebies.
I find that explicit, systematic, and FUN instruction helps motivate my students and help them succeed. I love to help students recognize their own abilities and talents.
I'm an honoree of the San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fame. I'm thrilled to be presenting at the 2014 National Association of Educational Therapists Conference.
I hold a Master's degree in special education from San Francisco State University. I received my specialized training in educational therapy from the University of California Santa Cruz. I've also trained extensively in research-based literacy methods, including Lindamood-Bell® and Orton-Gillingham.
I love camping, hiking, and backpacking with my husband, and nothing beats a cup of warm tea and a good book!
