TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught in Middle and High School. Subjects I've taught are Drama, Chorus, Guitar, Music Technology, General Music. I've written curriculum for Drama, grades 6, 7 & 8 as well as Middle school music curriculum. I have written plays from short to full length and sight-singing exercises.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in performance assessments. In the subjects I teach, it is important for the students to experience the subject and express themselves, not just write about it.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My passion is curriculum and quality instruction. I am always looking for ways to strengthen my teaching from writing plays to devising new units or incorporating more technology and visual examples. I always consider the various learners-visual, kinesthetic, aural. I love mentoring new teachers and helping them find their strengths and passions for teaching. My background in the arts has been a joy to my teaching. I have a background in singing, acting, art, and dance. I have worked professionally using all of these talents from a cake decorator to an on-stage actress and singer for various events such as weddings, church services, funerals, and business events. All these elements come into play in teaching theater, and allows me to experience my passions.
