I have been teaching in a diverse school district for over 25 years. Six of those years were spent teaching 6th grade at an upper elementary school. The remaining 19 years have been spent teaching 6th and 7th grade at the middle school level. Throughout my years of teaching I have taught three different subjects: Language Arts, Social Studies, and Mathematics.
Specializing in teaching at-risk students, I am true believer in the phrase, "Learning should be fun!" I believe every student is capable of success no matter what their disability may be. I utilize tactile games and activities that allow the students to fully engage in the concepts while interacting with their peers. In addition, differentiation is essential for these diverse students' needs.
Watching underachieving students be successful in my classroom. Isn't that honor enough?!?
Graduated with a Bachelors in Education from The University of Michigan in 1993. Graduated with a Masters in Teaching Reading from Oakland University in 2000.
I have four children spread throughout all of the school levels... two in college, one in high school, one in middle school. I love to read, bake, and spend as much time at the beach as humanly possible.
