I have been a Mother's Day Out supervisor and lead teacher for ages 1-12,a kindergarten assistant, taught Title I reading and math in grades K-3. I have also been trained in Reading Recovery and taught Reading Recovery. I have taught a transitional 2nd, transitional 1st, and have 12 years experience teaching traditional 1st grade. I have worked with students with an array of multiple disabilites including learning and physical.
I teach reading through a balanced literacy approach. I teach through whole group, small group, and individual lessons. I integrate technology as much as possible and have students learning through centers and individual learning tasks. I am also doing a self study of Montessori and incorporating Montessori materials and lessons into my students' learning time.
I have been nominated numerous times for the Who's Who Among American Teachers. I have also been honored as a Model and Master Teacher through Reading Renaissance.
I graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Elementary Education. I received my 5th year-Master's equivolent from the Kentucky Department of Education with an emphasis in Reading. I have also obtained my 30 above degree from Murray State with an emphasis in Reading and Writing. I have a Reading Recovery certification from SIU at Carbondale. I also am doing a self study in Montessori Education.
