I am currently in year thirty of my teaching career. I have been privileged to teach fifth through eighth grade over these years. My heart belongs to the true-blue middle school setting.
I enjoy being creative with my teaching delivery as well as encouraging my students to show me their creativity with the tasks I give them.
I am fortunate to have been recognized by colleagues as County Teacher of the Year in my seventh year as a middle school teacher. I have been honored as a Georgia Southern University College of Education Demonstration Teacher. Through Georgia Southern University I have witnessed first hand the many talented young adult undergraduates in their pursuit for an education degree.
I attended Southeast Bulloch High School in Brooklet, Georgia. I am a proud graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor's degree in Middle School Education. I have my master's degree in Literacy in Elementary from Walden's University. I am certified to teach language arts, math, and social studies in grades 4-8. My teaching certificate is endorsed with a Teacher Support Specialist Endorsement, a Reading Endorsement, and a Teaching the Gifted Endorsement.
Proudly, I thank my parents for the encouragement to always do my best. They instilled in me the confidence to take challenges and conquer. As a mother of three and a grandmother of four, I continue that push to drive them with their dreams and abilities. I am proof that a nontraditional college student, can make educational dreams come true. Knowing this, I thank my husband of forty years and parents for helping me achieve the dream of earning a college degree thirty years ago. And thankfully, they encourage me still, today!
