I am currently a special education teacher in New Jersey. I have been teaching for over ten years using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). I have attended hundreds of hours in workshops related to the field of Autism and ABA. I have worked with various disabilities AND abilities. I am also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and I have been a behaviorist for ten years now. In addition to working as a special education teacher, I also work before and after school as a BCBA in home programs for insurance companies and private agencies. I am responsible for training the staff that work in these homes, as well as conduct parent training sessions.
My classroom is ABA based, but I do use varying techniques from Verbal Behavior. I am responsible for individualizing each of my students’ educational programs based on the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R). I also develop and implement behavior plans/strategies based on the use of positive reinforcement. I am the head teacher and responsible for training my staff as well.
