In 2002, I began my career in education as an elementary school social skills counselor. I started teaching in 2007 when I became a K-5 science special area teacher. I provided hands on standards based learning activities to the students that supplemented what they were learning in their regular classrooms. Since then, I have been a classroom teacher of 5th grade, 4th grade, a 4/5 combo and 1st grade.
I am a true believer in my students not only being actively engaged in their learning, but taking ownership of their education. My teaching style reflects that of a gradual release model. In my classroom you will see more of students working with technology, in cooperative learning groups, on meaningful tasks, completing hands-on activities and experiments, writing about what they are learning and less of them using traditional textbooks and me lecturing. I love children, have three of my own and from the depths of my soul feel they should want to be at school each day and thoroughly enjoy learning. My classroom is a fun, safe place to be and I work very hard to make sure the lives of my students are enriched daily as they always find a way to enrich mine.

A Florida native, I was born and raised in Osceola County. Married to the love of my life, we have three amazing children! My personal free time (which quite honestly occurs only during the summer months and in this order) is spent reading, writing, and doing some sort of creative project. My family and I love spending time boating and fishing on our gorgeous Florida lakes, getting away for a weekend and heading to the beach or camping, and enjoying quality time with family.
