I've been a Special Education teacher in an urban school district since January 2002. With this broad area, and being certified to teach K-12, I've meandered through almost all grade levels. Over the past 5 years I have been a Consultant Teacher focusing mostly on ELA. I develop and teach lessons to classes that have gen ed students, students with disabilities, and English language learners. My favorite grades to work with are 4th-8th grade.
I've honed in on teaching through small-groups. It may sound scary- and you might fear that you are going to lose control of the rest of the class. However, if it is done well, it works wonders!
I've been rated Highly Effective for years. That's honor enough for me!
