I taught Pre-K through 5th grade for over 33 years in the southeast. Among the normal challenges to all teachers nationwide, I also dealt with racial and socio-econimic differences.
I believe hands-on learning is extremely important for subject retention. Children should be able to utilize the knowledge gained in a practical and logical manner. I achieved this mainly by applying all three learning facets; auditory, visual and kenisthetic to whole language and thematic teaching. I also utilized field trips to assist students in understanding and appyling concepts to real life situations.
Numerous teacher of the month awards throughout my career.
