TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 9th year teaching at a Pre K-12 independent college preparatory school. During my teaching career I’ve taught in all three divisions and pursued personal and professional development around my passions of global education and blended learning. I’ve presented at state and regional conferences on how to integrate technology into the classroom and how to design curriculum that reflects a global focus.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Like my store name implies, I believe learning history should be more than memorizing names and dates. I’m passionate about creating interactive curriculum that challenges students to think critically, form and articulate opinions, and make connections between past and current events. My curriculum does include classic lectures, but also incorporates many other elements including peer teaching activities, simulations, debates, mock trials, and case studies. I’m an advocate of the blended learning model and global education.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

- Google Certified Educator, level 2 - two time Milt Taylor Technology Innovation grant recipient - Limited Grant for curriculum development

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a B.A. in History and English from Allegheny College and a M.A. in Liberal Studies from Ohio Dominican University - I’m also a proud graduate of the International Baccalaureate program from Inglemoor High School, a public school in Kenmore, WA.
