I embarked on my teaching career four years ago, but in my first year I taught 7th-12th English Language Arts and revived an academic team. By the end of the year, I was pleasantly surprised with the honor of being named "Teacher of the Year" by my district! By the end of the 4th I was teaching 6th-12th which was as exciting and daunting as it sounds. With 7 preps, I learned a lot about the teaching field, the English language, and especially myself! Now I'm dividing my time as a part-time teacher to a group of fun freshmen and staying home with our baby girl! <3
I am all about helping students understand the real world application to what they are learning. I want them to make sense of what happens in the classroom in such a way that they can apply it to their own world. Like my own favorite English teacher, Rhonda Howard, my mantra is that in my classroom we will "Read on the lines, between the lines, and beyond the lines."
