I decided to join the NYC Teaching Fellows in 2005. I taught 5th grade, and 6th, 7th, & 8th grade Technoloy and Dance from 2005 - 2009 in the Bronx. I taught 6th grade Field Studies in Williamsburg, Bk from 2009 - 2011. I took a year off after having my 1st child and I decided to go back to elementary school. I started working at P.S. 8 in Brooklyn Heights in 2012. I was the General Ed Teacher in a 2nd Grade ICT classroom for 2 years and a kindergarten teacher for 1 year. After having my 3rd child I decided to go on childcare leave for 2 years. Now I sub regularly and I work with my kids so they will be ready for school.
I went to Central Park East 1 and Central Park East Secondary School, these are both progressive schools. I believe that its my job to make kids excited about learning, and to figure out how they learn. I am a true believer in progressive education, but it doesn't work for every kid.
