TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Biology Anatomy Physics Environmental Science Bilingual / ELL Biology

MY TEACHING STYLE

A focus on science literacy: knowing how to ask questions, interpret graphs, and decipher diagrams... Sprinkle in some labs and hands-on simulations and voila! Biology. I like students to be able to make connections between what we learn in class and how it is being applied in the real world.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Not so far... unless we count the "Teacher most likely to tell a bad joke" as an honor. :P

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.S. in Integrative Biology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2007) M.A. in Secondary Education from Depaul University (2012)

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I've worked as a naturalist and a field assistant before making the switch to education. My house: 2 adults, 4 kids, 2 cats, 1 corn snake, 1 lizard. Lots of chaos! Do you even science, bro?
