TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Ph.D. in Molecular Biology with 10 years postdoctoral research experience. 10 years teaching experience ranging from low-income urban school district to private college preparatory schools. AP Biology, International Baccalaureate Biology, Honors Biology, and life sciences elective courses.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Flipped classroom built around small group collaborative learning, laboratory inquiry, and hands-on activities.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

B.Sci. Biology 1991; Ph.D. Molecular Biology 1996; Postdoctoral research fellowships in the fields of tumor suppressor genes, cell cycle regulatory proteins, linkage mapping, and the identification of genes governing craniofacial development during embryogenesis.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Raised in a family of high school teachers, I finally listened to my heart and left an NIH-funded career in molecular biology research to become a high school teacher in 2005. My high school students continue to amaze and inspire me on a daily basis.
