My first year of teaching I taught 7th grade Reading, Writing, and Ancient Civilizations along with a mix of 7th & 8th grade Leadership. From my first job, I moved over to another school and have since been teaching 8th Grade Core, which includes their English Language Arts class and United States History. I am going into my 6th year of teaching in the 2017-2018 school year.
One of the greatest gifts I can offer my students in to be their strongest supporter and to help them learn to love school. I love to create engaging and interactive lessons that allow students to draw on their strengths and try to take boring subject matter and present it in new and exciting ways so that students almost forget that they're actually learning something along the way. I put a strong emphasis on creating a positive atmosphere in my classroom and helping students to see the good in every single situation. As an 8th grade teacher, where my students will be moving on to the high school in the next year, I work diligently to help create self-aware learners that know what they need, are willing to ask for help, and work hard to achieve success.
Yet to be added
I attended public school in the same district that I am currently teaching in and graduated in 2007. During my Junior & Senior year of high school, I attended the "Running Start" program at our town's Community College and was able to earn my Associate of Arts degree at the same time I graduated high school. This jump allowed me to enter college at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA as a Junior, where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading. From there, I have obtained certification in Middle-Level Humanities (Social Studies) as well as English Language Arts.
First and foremost, I am a wife of 7 years. My husband is my greatest supporter. Over the last 4 years, we've had 3 babies!!! Our life is crazy to say the least with a 3-year-old, 2-year-old, and 6-month-old. It's an absolute blessed life, though!
