I am currently teaching first grade and LOVE it! This is my 18th year with first graders. I've also taught second grade for two years and was a media specialist for nine years. I am a children's author (over 75 books!) and have published with Scholastic, ABDO/Magic Wagon, Enslow, Carson-Dellosa and Instructor.
I'm passionate about teaching and learning from my students; structured yet flexible! :) I consider myself a teacher AND a student! Creating a strong classroom culture/community is top priority each year. Once you have that, the rest is easy! :)
Named Teacher of the Year, (The same year my mother won it! How cool is that?)
Undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Seton Hall University and Masters Degree in Information and Library Science at Rutgers University.
I'm a mother of two and married to a teacher. My two sisters are teachers, my mom was a first grade teacher and my father was a Principal/Superintendent. Lots of teacher talk 'round here! The way I like it! :)
