I have 1.5 years experience in upper elementary E/LA, reading, and social studies classrooms.
I try to make my approaches inquiry-based, constructivist, and discussion oriented. I find that the material that sticks is the material that makes students ask (and attempt to answer) deep questions. I am also interested in making sure that my lessons are culturally relevant and easily differentiated.
I am published in English in Texas, an academic journal affiliated with Texas State University.
I earned a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin. I also have an M.Ed from Texas State University. I spent several years writing for a technical proposal writing firm before I decided that teaching was the place for me, and I am so glad that I made the jump!
