My teaching experience spans public and charter schools, high income to at-risk environments, and grades K-12. I have been working in the education field in some capacity for 12 years. One of my favorite tasks has been to rebuild the Spanish program for an at-risk school and create a program for Spanish 3 and Spanish 4 in that school. I also have extensive experience in creating educational portfolios and materials for planning and measuring student development.
My teaching style is very interactive and incorporates technology on a regular basis. I like to expose my students to cultures and languages that are different from their own. I build a positive classroom environment which boosts enthusiasm for learning and keeps the students using the skills they are learning.
Chosen to lead staff in professional development and instructed them in how to create educational portfolios. Also taught staff how to create documents that measure student performance and target areas of weakness. The most meaningful honor was being chosen by the students as Teacher of the Month.
Attended Oakland Community College, Oakland University, and the University of Michigan-Flint. Completed a study abroad program in Costa Rica at the Costa Rican Language Academy.
I chose part time work to spend more time with my new baby boy and work as a private tutor/instructor. I have also been developing a website that provides free teaching materials for Spanish teachers. Feel free to visit: www.BlueElephantAcademy.com
