I've been teaching in a Special Education - Life Skills setting for 5 years now and I love my job. I have a wide variety of ages and teach 1st - 5th grade. I am the Math and Science half of my teaching team and that is my main area of focus. It never fails to amaze me how many resources you really need to teach in a special education environment because my students are all at very different levels! That's why so many of these will have multiple formats . . . to meet the needs of my students. A lot of my students are on prerequisite skills, so you may find a lot of this stuff works for Pre-K and Kindergarten as well.
I prefer hands on interactive things that require more than a worksheet and a piece of paper. I spend a lot of time trying to develop independent work skills in my students, so I love task cards, clip cards, and velcro activity books that present the information in a different way. I love doing experiments with my kids and the favorite part of our week is always Friday, where we get to cook! I'm looking forward to making some interactive cook books for my kids that I can share some time soon. They learn so much when they cook!

After years in the business field, I went back to school in my late 20's to get a degree in education. It was the first subject that really held my interest. I made it through 3 years of school, summers included and graduated. I still teach the same class I started with in the same school. Last year . . . I got a bee in my bonnet and decided I wasn't finished yet. I'm not working on a Masters Degree in Special Education. This is why I have the ideas . . . and my partner creates them!
This store is a team effort! I'm the 2nd half of the team. I do the majority of the design work while my sister handles the curriculum. I'm not a teacher, but have years of experience in design. The shop was her idea and I'm having a blast creating fun resources for your students. I also have my own store her on TPT where I sell Clip Art. If your interested in that and learning more about me you can check out my website: www.keepinitkawaii.com
Why Blue Iris? I decided on the name months ago, I wanted something that would be a representation of our faith. I figured out that the Blue Iris symbolizes Faith, Hope, and Wisdom. That all seems to fit what we want to accomplish here perfectly. With the creation of the name I also came up with our two cute mascot characters. Blue the dog and Iris the cat! I hope you love them as much as we do! You'll be seeing much more of them in the future as the shop grows!
