About me...
I am a University of Texas (Austin), UTeach alumnus- which is a nationally recognized and replicated Science and Math teaching program across the United States. My student teaching experience provided opportunities to teach 5th - 12th grade.
With that said, I've been in education as a teacher for over 10 years ranging from:
• 7th grade (Life Science) and 8th grade (Earth Science)
• 9-12th Grade Biology (Regular and Pre-AP)
• 9-12th Grade Integrated Physics & Chemistry (IPC)
• 9-12th Grade Chemistry (Regular, Pre-AP, AP, and a Dual-Credit course)
For 3 years I served as my district's science instructional specialist. In that role I provided pedagogical support, as well as content specific professional development, to secondary science teachers at 17 high school campuses. I would say that those workshops had been overwhelmingly positive based on teacher feedback and our End-of-Course results in biology compared to other large urban districts in the state of Texas.
Additionally, I've worked with teacher PLCs, developed department-wide intervention plans and conducted demonstration lessons. Furthermore, I've served as a high school campus assistant principal; as well as presented at conferences across the state of Texas. While I enjoyed the administrator life, my passion for teaching was stronger and I made the decision to return to the classroom during the 2016-2017 school year (at the same school I was an AP).

My lessons are designed for students to build upon their prior knowledge and/or construct new knowledge through active hands-on learning experiences. I am student-centered versus teacher-centered - that is the students are doing most of the work (labs, explaining, modeling, etc.).
I like to infuse humor into my teaching, while at the same time ensuring that the curriculum and instruction provides opportunities to challenge students.

I am an Army brat and have lived/traveled all over the world. In my spare time I love to go to the gym, swim, jam out to 80s music, watch movies all day on Netflix, and create items for TpT.
