I am a certified Library Media Specialist, and I have taught grades raging from K-8, including special education classes that are ED, LD, and autistic, since 2005 in NY. I have used all of my lessons on my students, and I work in an inner city school district. Most lesson have a lesson plan in the beginning or the end of the packet. All of my lessons are aligned to the ELA common core; incorporating standards for informational text and writing.
I have a hands on approach that is student centered. For this reason, most of my lessons will seem like blank templates because the students choose a topic that interests them for the given theme. My lessons are heavy on independent research, and the lower lessons combine a fiction book with a nonfiction research component.
In 2005 I presented my original geology research at a national conference in Washington State.
I have a teaching certificate in 7-12 Earth Science, K-12 Library Media Specialist, and my School Building Leader Certificate; all are for NY state.
I love inspiring kids to learn and read. A solid foundation in research can lead to exciting learning experience for students.
