This delightful picture book disguises multiple emergent literacy lessons in a simple, recurrent structure. It's a perfect example of an elegantly written and illustrated text that one might erroneously dismiss as merely silly. Look carefully and

What a delightful book for young children who love dinosaurs. This book is old enough to value the wonderfulness of words, not just their ranking on an official list. There are simple words with multiple meanings as well as unusual vocabulary like

This book is one in a series of stories about Jafta. The illustrations focus on characters in only shades of brown and provide minimal information about setting. Yet, the pictures, paired with an equally succinct text, drew me quickly into Jafta's

This 10-page file is a lesson for one book in a series about adorable bats who enjoy children's activities, with a twist. The illustrations are beautiful paintings that depict the pure joy of visiting a library and getting lost in literature. Brian

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I absolutely adore well-written and carefully illustrated picture books. The Picture Book Talk lessons are intended to accompany an adult reading the book aloud to children. They are not meant as written assignments for children to complete without guidance. The Wait For It... lessons might complement a comprehensive fluency therapy program. Please leave feedback so that I can design more effective lessons.
