I first formed Bottomless Cup Music back in 2008 but have been teaching and composing music for many years before that. My daily life breathes the education, preparation and creation of music. I am currently the music teacher at a Title I school in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn where I teach the Music and the Brain Keyboard Curriculum, the Carnegie Hall Link-Up Recorder Curriculum, and direct 60 amazing 4th and 5th graders in two concert bands, jazz band, marching band and various small ensembles. As an active composer I write and arrange almost everything my band plays in addition to working on my own music professionally as well as commissions for schools, universities and music festivals. I also enjoy the music preparation side of Bottomless Cup Music. I work as an engraver, proofreader, transcriptionist, and arranger/orchestrator for clients all of the country and world.
I rely heavily on my composition and arranging skills when working with my band students. Each student has a unique background of raw talent, maturing work ethic, and family environment that creates wide variables in their progress. Each year is different and I can never rely solely on the same approach or piece of music for each ensemble. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Everything must be made-to-order. When I write the music and exercises that I do for my students, I incorporate a large amount of differentiation into the music so that they can be tailor-fitted for both this year's students and hopefully next year's, too. This differentiated music I now share with you.
