TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently I am a Ball State University supervisor of student teachers. I also conduct professional development in Indiana schools and co-facilitate middle school writing camps. I spent 30 years educating students in grades 2-5 as a classroom teacher, a teacher of gifted students, and a school-wide literacy instructor. My expertise lies in implementing writing workshop, writing in the content areas, prompt writing as a genre, and integrating language into morning messages. I was trained as a teaching consultant through the Indiana Writing Project at Ball state University.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in inquiry-based learning, interactive learning, and authentic learning to actively engage students and provide them ownership of their learning.

Outstanding Educator award; twice selected to attend the National Scoring Conference hosted by the National Writing Project

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and a minor in English. I received my Master's Degree in elementary education from Ball State University. I also received a gifted and talented endorsement from Ball State University. I have taken additional training to keep me current in educational trends and current best practices.
