I have been teaching for only a year and a half, but I truly love my job! I've taught students on the lowest levels possible all the way to our geniuses! They all have a small place in my heart that nothing else can fill!!!!
I am very unconventional! I prefer to sit back and watch my students learn. If they are digging through information and learning, then my job is done! I do LOTS of projects and real-world group projects. We take math into ALL OTHER SUBJECTS so that the students can really see math's applications in everything; it also helps them approach new concepts and math in general with so much confidence! It's beautiful!!!!
I graduated from Texas A&M University--Kingsville with a B.S. in Mathematics and a Secondary Teaching License. I moved to North Carolina and have my SP1 teaching license for grades 6-12.
I grew up as a military child, so I have traveled the world. I bring that into my classroom and allow my students to "travel" by openly discussing experiences and cultural differences. I began tutoring at the college level about week after graduating high school, and it was then that I fell in love with teaching. Four and a half years later, I found myself behind my own teaching desk with 60 students. I have been on fire ever since and have TONS of ideas for making a math classroom the most fun room in all of the high school!!!!
