I am currently a Reading Recovery teacher, following eleven years of teaching 1st and 2nd grade classrooms.
My teaching style has always been focused on a student-centered approach. I model and guide my students down a learning path, encouraging them to take an active role in their own learning. I begin every school year with the goal of developing positive and trusting relationships with all of my students. "Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care." - John C. Maxwell (adapted)
I was a finalist for the Golden Apple Teaching Award in 2005.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education in 2002 and my Master of Science degree in School Teaching from Lincoln University in 2008. After a year long training with graduate coursework from Southeast Missouri State University, I received my Reading Recovery certification. I am currently working on my Special Reading certification.
I have been married to my husband, Brian, for 8 years. We have two daughters, Hailey and Sadie.
