TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I teach an Accelerated English course and Creative Writing at a STEM 6-12 magnet school. I have experience as a district curriculum and assessment writer for 11th grade English, and have worked as an SAT tutor.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My favorite lessons are those that seek to analyze the nuances and themes within artistic expression-- while making those connections relevant to students' lives. I aim to create opportunities for research; discussions about time period, societal impact, and human nature; and cross-discipline analysis, creation, and/or evaluation of writing in my instruction. I also favor close-reading and annotation strategies that promote active reading and a broad range of analysis.
