TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have 4 years experience teaching high school English, specifically at the freshman and senior levels.

MY TEACHING STYLE

In my classroom, I have students create as much as possible. Because I have a class set of Google Chromebooks and am now Google Certified, I am able to have technology play an important role in my classroom. For my senior students in particular, my focus is to make literacy as "real world" as possible to increase student interest level and so that they are able to see a clear connection between what they are learning in the classroom and what they are learning about the "real world" as they prepare to enter adulthood.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended public schools in the Chicago suburbs through my whole childhood, and I decided at age 14 that I wanted to teach high school English. I earned my BA through University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky, and I currently teach at a public high school in the Lexington area.
