TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently I am teaching 10th & 11th grade English Language Arts. Prior to this year, I taught 8th grade ELA & Reading at a Title I school for two years. In the past I have also taught 7th grade ELA at a Title I school in Maryland, and 10th grade English Language Arts for three years as part of The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. In addition to my full-time teaching, I have experience as an adult educator teaching Beginning College Writing.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe the best learning happens when students have a voice in the classroom; therefore, I do my best to inquire about what my students are interested in and then find ways to use this information to teach the curriculum.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I love the benefits of yoga and meditation in my own life and believe there is a valid place for these practices in our schools as a way to support teacher and student wellness. I began researching the effects of yoga and meditation on student behavior and learning in 2013, and have been implementing a daily meditation practice into my English classes since 2014.
