TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught for two years at a small Christian school, taught Kindergarten at a public school, taught 7th-12th grade English at a charter school, and now reenter traditional public school teaching 9th-12th English, Creative Writing, Literature, Speech, and Drama. I'm a freelance writer with publication credits in poetry, newspaper articles, and magazine articles.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Kids shouldn't be bored or distracted, so it's up to me to craft lessons and assignments that work, meaning they're engaging. I hate fluff and busywork as much as my students do. Give me poetry that chills, Shakespeare on the stage whenever possible, and lots of encouragement to read and write for pleasure!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My brave mother homeschooled me K-12 and I attended a Christian university, where I studied Creative Writing with a minor in English. I received my BA in Dec. 2000. Since then, I've earned two teaching certificates through the ABCTE alternative route to certification. I continue to pursue my education, most recently by attending a Summer Spanish Institute and joining the Idaho CORE Coach Network training program.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Please visit my blog, http://christianteacherpublicschool.blogspot.com/ for additional reading and resources, including some for free! I'm a mom of three who loves to sew and quilt in addition to reading and writing for fun. I help my husband with his used book business, which allows me to commandeer hundreds of books for my own enjoyment. "So many books, so little time" was never truer!
