I live in Russellville, Arkansas in between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains by Lake Dardanelle State Park. I spend my school-term work week with over 500 children age birth-5 in 11 childcare facilities as a contracted early childhood music teacher. I have been teaching preschool music for 16 years and have been through nearly 10,000 preschool kids. My first preschool students are now college sophomores. I have also spent 30 years as a music educator and studio musician both on piano and keyboards. I have piano students who are now professional musicians with graduate degrees in piano.

What is my educational background? Well, I am a 1987 graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a BA in Music Education (K-12 general music, piano, choral and strings). After being out of college 15 years I started back to school. In 2002, I completed a MS in Early Childhood Education with Nova Southeastern University and completed my Ed.D in Early Childhood Education in 2008 with the Fischler School of Education at Nova Southeastern University. And to answer some of your questions, yes, I started grad school after turning 40.
My wife Shirley and I own Makin’ Music, Inc, (http://www.makinmusic.net) which provides early childhood classes and professional development training. Shirley operates ACME (Arkansas Center for Music Education http://www.ac-me.org ) which is a non-profit community music organization. I have three grown children, one child at home, two grandchildren, and an adopted three-year-old greyhound. I did have three grandchildren, but my youngest is now my youngest son as we adopted him in March of 2013. He turned three years old on May 6th. There is now 29 years difference between my oldest and youngest sons. Suddenly I am becoming tired . . .
