TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was a full time high school social studies teacher (and department chair) for at-risk students in grades 9-12 for six years. Additionally, I have taught creative writing classes for students in grades 3-5 for over ten years. I am also a published author of children's fiction and poetry.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am a children’s author and former school teacher who lives in Chesterfield, VA with my wife, daughter and of course, my many imaginary friends. I have enjoyed writing stories since I was old enough to hold a no. 2 pencil. Although I was once put out of class for writing too many stories, I went on to receive a master’s degree in Creative Writing and Children’s Literature from Hollins University. Along the way, I have performed as a stand-up comic, worked as a “McCountant,” and written award winning country songs for my band Family Reunion. I also contribute posts to the Richmond Children's Writers blog and the Turnstyled Junkpiled Amerciana music blog.
