TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began my teaching career as a co-teacher in a pre-kindergarten classroom at St. Michael School. During my first year, I fell in love with St. Michael School. I was thrilled when I was given a full-time position in kindergarten for the following school year. I am now beginning my fifth year of teaching and still loving kindergarten. Kindergarten has filled a space in my heart I never knew was empty!

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom is all about KINDERGARTEN and how that should look and function. My students are with me for a full school day. Within each day, I present some lessons whole-group. I think it is important for my students to develop skills that will prepare them for first grade. I also incorporate many opportunities for small group instruction, collaborative learning, formative instructional practice, and individual conferences. My students will tell you their favorite part of our schedule is the DAILY 5 and WRITER'S WORKSHOP. In our classroom.. we dance, we sing, we play, all the while we are learning. I'd be lost without my colleagues, teacher bloggers, and technology; all of which heavily influence my pedagogy. I find myself never content with my practice and constantly searching for ways to improve it. But, that is just the nature of a teacher, right?

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

In 2012, I received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. I have obtained an Early Childhood, Intervention Specialist Professional Teaching License from the state of Ohio. My license includes a reading endorsement for grades K-12.
