I have taught at the preschool level for several years. No we don't need to say exactly how many!! I have also worked in the public schools. I am currently semi retired and working part time as a substitute teacher. Having worked at both levels, I have been able to see the skills that are needed by the children as they enter Kindergarten and First grade. I believe they need to learn self reliance more than anything else. Necessary skills include time management, staying on task, taking ownership of their work and building self reliance. I have designed the Task Cards to teach self direction, and still have fun while learning!
I enjoy the children very much, and like to introduce them to many different things. Their curious little minds will wrap around so many subjects of interest. I also like to use what I call the Connected Curriculum, simply meaning to tie together work in Language, Math, Science and other areas through a variety of activities and play settings. I like to find out what the children are showing interest in, and plan the curriculum around that. My themed units are for PreK and Kindergarten. They represent my favorite units used while i was teaching/ Each unit includes many activities and also teacher tools and reproducibles.I also try to introduce the children to lots of real world ideas and objects, bringing in lots of props and links to helpful web sites. I hope you enjoy using these units! More are on the way!
