This is my 8th year teaching 10th grade. I've taught 7th-12th grade at various times, but my main experience lies with sophomores. I've taught everything from Remedial Reading to GT. I've also started teaching Creative Writing to predominantly 12th graders, and I am in my second year of spearheading that class.
My classroom is student-centered. Period. I usually begin class with a warm-up, have students share in partners, debrief whole class, present a 10-20 minute lesson (depending on the day), and then give the students time to practice applying the skills (usually in partners) while I circulate the room and answer questions; then the last 5 minutes is for some sort of check for understanding. I love hearing discussion in my classroom, I love seeing curiosity sparked, and I love trying new things!

B.S. in Secondary Education with a Focus in English from Roberts Wesleyan College
I am an English teacher at Lake Highlands High School in Richardson, TX. I try to take time for myself on the weekends (when I'm not grading papers) to explore the city, spend time with my husband, and relax.
