TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught for 8 years after graduation. I have worked as an itinerant music teacher (meaning I move between multiple schools on bi-weekly basis). While the schedule has been stressful at times, I do appreciate that this has given me the opportunity to work with multiple admin and different student populations to broaden my experience.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to consider my classroom a classical/pop fusion environment. I think it's very important for students to experience all types of music. While I constantly use classical music and folk songs, I also like to include music examples from the popular music world to which the students are already connected. I believe that music class should be a well-rounded experience: dancing, singing, playing instruments, and games are all very important. I enjoy having students experience the world through music, and think about how music really has influence on our society and lifestyle. I enjoy creating lessons that fuse all of this together in a creative, fun environment.
