TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently working on my 5th year of teaching high school mathematics as well has advanced junior high students. The school I teach for has a 1:1 laptop technology integration for all of its students. I have received my masters in Technology Integration and presented my lessons and teaching style at multiple technology conferences across the state.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Technology Integration is very big at our school and plays a huge role into teaching our students. I have implemented the "flipped classroom" teaching style to each and every one of my classes. I have been doing this for four of the five years I have been teaching. With the flipped classroom, students are given a hard copy of structured notes and are required to watch a video that I have created. This video is their "homework" to do outside of class, and it helps them complete the notes and answer questions along the way. Once the students are in class, they will be engaged in multiple activities and practice based on the notes they watched the night before. As a teacher, I am no longer standing in front of the class lecturing the entire time. Instead, I am more of a coach - providing all of the students with the information and helping them along the way with specific needs. This style of teaching really helps the teacher target students who are struggling and allowing the high-flyers to keep moving forward.
