For over 25 years, teaching has been my life! I taught 10th and 11th grade English and history for many years in the public school. For the last 16 years, I have been home educating my four children: My oldest two are now in college (yes, I feel old), and my youngest two are in 8th and 10th grades so only a few more years to go (do I hear an AMEN?!) I have been teaching homeschool writing, grammar and ACT prep classes for the last ten years. Currently, I teach a 6th grade writing class, a high school research paper class, and two ACT English and reading prep classes. I love my brilliant students and my subjects and can't wait to share many years of lesson plans!
I like to make learning fun. Learning how to write well should be an adventure! I believe studying strong writing samples is essential and using a check list is a must. And the "Final Paper" is never really the final paper. Revisions lead to Reward! I give lots of candy (yes, even to the big kids) and NEVER use red ink to grade a paper! The occasional coffee bar stimulates creativity as well:)
I experienced my shining moment when I graduated my first homeschooler after teaching him since kindergarten.
B.S. Degree in English and History-Secondary Education and Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling
I have been married to Kerry, the most wonderful man on the planet, for 26 years! (How's that for an appositive? Or is it hyperbole? HA!)
