I have been working in the education field for 12 years! My love for Special Education began in high school where I began volunteer work. This is when my passion evolved and I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I started in the field as a classroom aide for students with severe intellectual disabilities when I turned 18. After getting through my Associates Degree (Early Childhood Edu) as a paraprofessional, I began substitute teaching. Like many of us, this experience taught me patience and how to spontaneously implement lessons. I then graduated from Buffalo State College with a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education grades 1-6. I have now been with the same district for 4 years as a Special Education teacher. I absolutely LOVE my career and couldn't be more blessed!
Celebrating our Differences! This is the heart of my teaching style. Whether its utilizing the many talents of my assistants during rotations, conducting our morning meeting conversations or using different teaching strategies to assist specific students; Celebrating, understanding and knowing all of my students strengths and needs are what makes my classroom successful. Many of my resources will reflect this belief.
