I was a performance zone coach for Clark County School District this past school year; I was put back into the classroom to takeover a 4th grade classroom. I have been a general education, accelerated and inclusion teacher. I have tutored elementary students, primarily in math and reading. I have tutored middle school algebra and high school mathematics (Algebra, Algebra II, Geometry, Calculus). I have taught formally in kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. I have also taught reading classes for grades kindergarten-5th. As a coach, I have spent most of my time in 1st grade.
I enjoy project-based learning. I want to facilitate learning rather than lecture my students on what I know or what they can read in a textbook. I enjoy a noisy active classroom with lots of movement. I love when my students take initiative, or are inspired to go beyond my expectations, due to their enthusiasm and new learning. I consider myself innovative and willing to try new methods to help my students become lifelong learners.
