TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We have a combined 47 years of experience in grades K-8, private and public schools, gifted and talented, learning differences, English immersion program, and migrant resource classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The students we teach have a variety of learning differences. We offer students a balance of direct instruction and investigation. Our multisensory approach to teaching, supported with extensive practice, allows students to move confidently from the concrete to the abstract. Teaching materials are designed to maximize the student’s attention with purposeful animation, graphics and color. We design our instruction with an incremental progression of concepts and skills. Lessons are structured to activate prior knowledge, provide direct instruction with scaffolding, a variety of practice opportunities, and assessments that are engaging. We find that with this approach many of our students experience success for the first time. Designing lessons in this way allows for instruction to flow with minimal interruptions and maximum time on task and is best practice for not only students with learning differences but for all students.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

We have been colleagues for nine years. We began our collaborative journey by creating math and language arts materials for bright third and fourth grade students who experienced limited success in a traditional classroom. We quickly discovered that our creativity and insights on student learning were enhanced when we collaborated together on projects thus C3, Collaborative, Creative, Colleagues was born. Our instructional materials are designed to maximize attention, provide direct instruction, and to provide an abundance of practice in an organized, purposeful, and engaging format. Our products are intentionally designed to contain graphics, color, and animation that enhance student learning rather than distract students from the content or purpose of the lesson. Check out our products and let us know if we can help you in any way. You can contact us at C3ineducation@gmail.com
