I have done plenty of private tutoring on my own with graduate students and a few children in the USA and Hong Kong, but full-time I've been a teacher in a Hong Kong Kindergarten K1-2 (ages 3-5) and a Primary School P1,3,5 (Elementary 1st, 3rd, 5th grades)
I find that I always teach more as an entertainer than a boring teacher. Having students who laugh frequently and look engaged with what I do and say is my only feedback to measure my success or failures. Without it, I wouldn't enjoy my job very much. So I sometimes feel that I might be a bit too nice and friendly with my students, that other teachers might think I don't take teaching seriously. But when every student I see outside of class has a smile and a "Mr Harvey!" ready for me, I know I must be doing something right.

I love almost anything creative and have spent much of my life drawing and making music. I've applied both of these interests as a teacher and made decorative art, teaching aids, and coloring activities for the entire 1,000 strong student body. I have recorded and produced songs for use in classrooms when otherwise no professional option was available.
