I am a school Social Worker, employed in the Midwest. I have been working in the field of school social work for over 13 years, however, prior to work in this position, I worked as a Foster Care case manager for several years and prior to that position, I was a crisis worker, working with the children and adolescent population. Though my many experiences, I have gained a lot of fundamental knowledge relevant to working with children and their families which assists me as a professional daily in my current practice.
I have adopted the Kagen approach to teaching, as the research support the improved rates of academic growth in children across varying backgrounds. Additionally, children, need to move and experience learning via a consultative style. When dealing with children in crisis or who are in a place behaviorally where they need additionally support, I draw from several models, Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, ACES (model), and Love and Logic, to state a few.
I have a Masters in Social work as well as a Masters in Education with an emphasis in school counseling.
