I love teaching! My first year was spent in 6th grade, but then I decided to stay home and homeschool my young daughters to prepare them for school. After they were in school I taught 8 years as the 4th and 5th grade gifted and talented magnet classroom which I had the opportunity to write the program and curriculum for. I am currently teaching 1st grade and am enjoying the diversity of working with younger students again and getting them started on their educational journeys.
I have a very flexible teaching style in that I try to cater what I am doing to the needs and strengths of my class. I am very adaptive and like to incorporate as much movement and multimedia into my lessons as appropriate to the task to help engage students in the learning process. I also like to have students talking about what they are learning and writing as much as I can convince them to as a means to "ingrain" their learning into their little minds. I believe in teaching the classics and core subjects, but using thematic or interdisciplinary strategies to do so.

I have been happily married for over 16 years for my husband who is also an elementary teacher. Together we have 3 teenage daughters and a very active school age son. When I am not creating things on my computer or reading, you will find me at the piano practicing for my next opera performance (when I get a chance to perform!), baking something yummy, and exercising to work off what I just baked up!
